CyberColloids

Minerva project website up and running

MINERVA is an EU-funded project that aims to valorise underutilised seaweed biomass that is sustainably produced across Europe with a view to developing new high value products, reducing waste in current processes and adding value to algal biomass that is currently underutilised or undervalued. MINERVA will deliver new products for the blue bioeconomy that address identified consumer needs in the food, cosmetics, biomedical and aquaculture sectors – using new methods to aid the extraction & purification of bioactives and omics-based approaches on unexplored marine microbial sources to develop new enzymes for application to a wide range of marine biomass.

CyberColloids’ key role in the project is to develop and evaluate new, seaweed derived food ingredients. In particular seaweed fibres for use as food texture ingredients. CyberColloids will also play an important role in providing industry-based training for postgraduate researchers.
